New recycling bins are the latest initiative by Eastlands Shopping Centre to reduce waste levels at the centre and continue to move towards a greener future for our community.
Eastlands have implemented dual purpose bins through the centre, where customers can either recycle or dispose of general waste as they would inside their home, with the aim of reducing waste levels from shoppers.
The recycling bins work the same as household recycling, with empty bottles, containers, cans and catalogues able to be recycled. Containers that are not empty will still need to be disposed of in the general waste section to reduce contamination rates of the recycled products.
Plastic shopping bags can still be recycled at both Coles and Woolworths, with a recycling collection point at the entrance of both stores.
